Education, Fellowships, and Specialized Training
Before Dr. LaRocca devoted his life’s work to medicine, he established a successful career as a mechanical engineer. With a medical doctorate degree from The Jefferson Medical College of the Thomas Jefferson University (known today as the Sidney Kimmel Medical College), he prepared for several notable fellowships and specialized training that would further ready him to become a leading spine surgery expert.
Dr. LaRocca completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Albert Einstein Medical Center while undergoing specialized training in pediatric scoliosis at the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He would go on to complete additional training with a fellowship in complex spinal reconstruction and clinical management of disorders of the neck and back at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Further, Dr. LaRocca was able to visit world-renowned spinal surgeon, Professor Jurgen Harms, at the Klinikum Karlsbad-Langensteinback in Karlsbad, Germany.

Dr. LaRocca has been certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a qualification that demonstrates his commitment to the latest technologies and advancements in spinal surgery. He has also authored and presented important research, including at the North American Spine Society’s national meetings.
